Alumni Speak

I studied for classes 8, 9 and 10 at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, between 1986 and 1988. I remember that period very fondly because I think it played a large part in laying the foundation of what I am today. Uncharacteristically for a school at that time, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, had a very open culture. It encouraged you to excel in extra-curriculars such as the Photography Club. It even had an Astronomy Club and a very active sports wing. Also, in the same campus, we had the Rajeshwari Kala Sangam where we could listen to music wafting from their classrooms while roaming the grounds during our free periods or lunch breaks.

Amandeep Singh

Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg alumnus Amandeep Singh is a celebrated Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the batch of 1997, whose current assignment is Additional Director General (Audit Headquarters), New Delhi, at the Ministry of Finance, Government of India and Additional Director General, Kolkata Zonal Unit.

Prashant Marya

AIMETC alumni Prashant Marya is Chief Commercial Officer and Vice President of Operations with Techcloudpro, the core technology vertical of the Vibing World Group, based in Toronto, Canada.

AIMETC taught me to be a generalist and to stay current in my field. We were also told that we should focus on our personalities and communication abilities, and that we should be “smart workers” rather than “hard workers.” Indeed, I believe AIMETC is the only college in Punjab that is forward-thinking and focused on the complete development of its students. I am the Joint Secretary of the International Chapter – IT of the AIMETC Alumni Association and wish my institute all the very best!

I am thankful to the school for giving me immense opportunities. I was the recipient of the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values. Be it zonal recitations, public speaking events or debate competitions, I learnt and built so many relationships and friendships in the school. So, I would like to convey my regards to all the teachers. Everything they have taught me is now helping me in my journey.

Anmol Sehgal

An alumna of Apeejay School, Saket, Anmol Sehgal, is making strides in the field of Economics. Currently, working as a young professional in the Atal Innovation Mission at NITI Aayog, New Delhi, she has co-authored an article with the Former Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog, Mr. Amitabh Kant, titled ‘Womenpreneurs Driving Transformation.’

Saurabh Maurya

Apeejay alumnus Saurabh Maurya has been working as an architect for almost six-seven years now. Healthcare projects are his forte and he has been involved in the development of quite a few hospitals in the country. He now works as a Project Architect at Arcop Associates. The alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Technology-School of Architecture and Planning (AIT-SAP) has mostly worked on government projects. Some of his noteworthy projects comprise AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh including its hostels, and AIIMS Deoghar, which is ongoing. He has also been working on the redevelopment of AIIMS Delhi.

I had a very good experience at Apeejay and was able to learn a lot—I fondly recall spending my college days at the institute’s old building before being shifted to the new one. In the latter, we were exposed to a new environment that motivated us to further identify our potential and work toward achieving our goals. Apart from enriching in-house lectures, we also had guest speakers who came to share their experiences and insights—they gave us a glimpse of how the industry works.

I graduated from Apeejay School, Pitampura in 2004, after which I studied Biochemistry at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University. I then went on to pursue an Integrated PhD (MS + PhD) programme from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. IISc is where I was nurtured as a young scientist. I discovered my love for basic research, and how simple model organisms, like Drosophila (fruit fly), can help solve seemingly complex mysteries of life.

I have a treasure trove of good memories of my time at Apeejay Pitampura. I made friends for life there, and we still stay in touch despite time zone differences and a global pandemic. I am grateful to all my teachers, particularly Ms. Soorma, Ms. Upma Raizada, Ms. Vandana Arora, Ms. Malini Sridhar, Mr. Jacob, Mr. Arvind Kaushal, Mr. Chauhan, Mr. PC Verma, Ms. Ritu Lakra, Ms. Karuna Sinha, Ms. Dimple Sahni, for playing such an integral role in molding me to be the person I am today.

There’s a saying by Henry David Thoreau “If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” Apeejay helped me put the foundation under me. I fall short of words to express my gratitude. Being able to be a part of my Alma Mater’s 40th anniversary makes me very happy and proud.

It fills my heart with profound honour and delight to send my best wishes for my college on completion of 40 glorious years of its incredible contributions in the field of education and promotion of cultural activities. It is one of the premier colleges in north India and committed to provide world class education to the students.

It is great privilege and honour for me to be the part of this prestigious institution. I count this college as a gateway to meet my destination successfully. It nurtured and promoted my latent talent to keep pace with the motto of ” Soaring high is my nature”. My special thanks and gratitude to the Management, Madam Principal and all the faculty members for their contribution in shaping and moulding my career.

My best wishes and prayers for the college to touch new horizons.
